Willow 04:26
When the willow falls We'll gather in the leaves and branches Hang them on the walls They'll light the path to our redemption Gentle wind, weeping branches Soft leaves tap on a window pane Darkening sky, dark howling shadows Big brown eyes looking out again Climb out child and rest in these arms Fear no height and fear no fall Though you may be far away I am with you fear nothing at all Wind blown sand, low distant thunder Comes again the third time today Darkening skies, dark howling shadows Big brown eyes looking out in vain Climb out child and rest in these arms Fear no height and fear no fall Though you may be far away I am with you fear nothing at all Open window in an empty room In the dark she sits alone In these arms he once was held Now she wonders will he ever return

Yellow Roses 04:45
Well I've seen him walking by the river Yellow roses and a trail of lights Ragged coat, the cloth that shields him And on and on this endless night And on and on this shining night Many years have passed and still they chase him People taking, people leaving none Simple kindness, gentle hands desert him And on and on, this endless night And on and on, this shining night And how are you going to save him sister When you can't save yourself How are you going to save him from the fate Of the long dark years and endless night? Comes a time when every man does better Comes a time when every life sees gain But fates are worn and jaded hearts much stronger And the rise and fall of life's ingrained Memories linger and they taste so bitter Second chances lost and sweet regret The road to empty is lined with fools and sinners And the wild eyed hopeful that don't know yet.

Old Friend 04:34
Oh my friend, we parted ways Times have changed, as have the roles we've played Unfinished games, so soon did end We shed cocoons, and we emerged as men Though there are many miles that separate As time and distance alienate Old friends And oh my friend, we were like leaves Close while we shared, that branch upon a tree Our colors changes, from green to brown Fall breezes swept us, each to different ground Follow your dreams and I will follow mine Perhaps we'll meet again sometime Old friend Oh my friend, look at the sky How fast it changed, so much like you and I Once we were young, once we were free Playing at life, like gulls above the sea Upon the auction block, were bought and sold Our youth's ideals, perhaps our souls Old friend And oh my friend, now it seems clear We are not bards, we are but players here Set on a stage, cast in a play Who writes the lines, that tell us what to say? Destiny leads us towards diverging ends We'll never pass this way again Old friend

about

The Stone Thoreaus' first effort, recorded in the spring of 2013, includes three beautiful, original songs. Sometimes compared to groups of the British and American folk movements of the 1960's, The Stone Thoreaus have a unique sound all their own. Simple and to the point, with a touch of whimsy and a hint of melancholy, these three songs are ultimately hopeful.
